In that framework, two meetings have been held in Paris: the first one, "Sensibilities at the beginning of the 21st century", took place at URMIS - Paris Diderot in 2016, in collaboration with Martin Aranguren (CNRS-URMIS). The second meeting, "Proximities and distances in contemporary societies: Work, discrimination, public policies and emotions ", in collaboration with Martin Aranguren (CNRS-URMIS) and Cécile Vermot (University of Patients - UPCM // CEPED - Paris Descartes), in 2017. At the end of this second meeting, it was decided to create the “International Network of Sociology of Sensibilities (RedISS)”.
As a result, since the creation of RedISS three meetings have taken place: The "III CIES-RELACES-Paris Meeting and the I RedISS Meeting: Social Sciences, Sensibilities and Societies" organized in Toronto-Canada on July 13-14, 2018 in collaboration with Luis Van Isschot (University of Toronto). Then, on November 28, the “II RedISS meeting: Trust and Politics of sensibilities” was organized in Monterrey, México, in collaboration with Brenda Bustos and María Luisa Martínez from the Institute of Social Research of the Autonomous University of Nuevo León (IINSO-UNAL). On March 9, 2019, the “III International Network of Sociology of Sensibilities (RedISS) Meeting” was held at the University of Alicante-Spain in collaboration with Juan A. Roche Cárcel. More than 50 panelists from Latin America, Canada, China and Europe have participated in those meetings.
In 2019, the “IV International Network for the Sociology of Sensibilities (RedISS) Meeting” was held again in Paris-France, at the University Paris 7 Diderot with the collaboration of Patrick Cingolani, on October 30 and 31. Panelists from Spain, Italy, Mexico, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Argentina, China, Brazil, France, and Chile participated.
During 2020, as a consequence of the global pandemic and health emergency related to Coronavirus (COVID-19), the annual meeting of the RedISS was not held, which had been planned as the “V International Network of Sociology of Sensibilities (RedISS) Meeting” in Perugia, and this year we will not be able to hold the “I Congress of the International Network for the Sociology of Sensibilities (RedISS)” planned in Alicante.
In the aforementioned context, we are organizing with the support of the University of Palermo, Argentina, the 1st Congress of the International Network of Sociology of Sensibilities for next June.
This time we wanted to open a space for discussion around trust and the role of the Social Sciences in the near future as the contribution of those of us who study emotions and sensitivities.
Organized in 18 Working Groups, the Congress hopes to contribute to developing renewed horizons to put academic production in contact with the construction of trust in today's society.
